What to expect before a family photo session can help lessen the anxiety.
It is normal for a family to arrive at the photoshoot location experiencing nervousness and anxiety. Even though, we, as photographers, share what will happen during the session, feelings of hesitancy and fear are written all over the clients' faces.
Here are three things you should know before the family photo session that can help ease the nervousness
- - The photographer is a professional. They already know that you may arrive to the session feeling uneasy. When you arrive, ask questions about anything that you are unsure of. Share with the photographer about how nervous and anxious you feel. You might be surprised at how much fear and negative feelings dissipate by simply sharing with the photographer those feelings.
- - Parents, I understand that you have been waiting and planning for this session for some time and want it to be special. It is okay if your kiddos, teens, or young adult children are not at there best behavior during the session. This is supposed to be a fun and memorable experience. The photographer will encourage you to just be you. The more you, the parent or guardian can relax, the more your children will feed off of your sense of ease and relax themselves.
- - Not all the images will never be perfect. We live in a digital world. After the session, you will have the opportunity to choose only those images you deem as the best out of the gallery. Your photographer will also be happy to guide you in your choices. So just relax and enjoy the session through which the photographer has been trained to direct, pose and otherwise help you enjoy this time together. The session is definitely not merely about taking photos. It is all about creating a memorable experience that you will always look back upon fondly.
